10th Irish Open win for O`Callaghan

Noel O`Callaghan (Fermoy) reigning National Champion captured his 10th Irish Open at the 25th Arklow Irish Open. He defeated American Richard Eisemann in the final of the Mens Singles. In the Womens Singles, Toni Neary from the host club captured her first Irish Open title defeating clubmate Geraldine Byrne in the final.

Following a successful 10th Irish Junior Open which had 130 competitors, Sean Gargan, President of the Racquetball Association of Ireland has praised the organizers, Junior Officer Christy Slattery and members of the Touraneena club for the sterling efforts they put in in running the Tournament. Ronnie Delaney to Officially open Irish Open

Irish Olympian and winner of the gold medal in the 1500m at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics will officially open the 28th Irish & 25th Arklow Open next Saturday in Arklow. The opening ceremony will take place at 2pm.
Touraneena Junior retain Aisling Hynes Cup

At the Irish Junior Open held in Co Waterford last weekend, Touraneena Junior Team retained the the Aisling Hynes Cup which is awarded to the top club at the tournament. Over 125 junior athletes took part in the event which was played in courts at Touraneena, An Rinn, Dungarvan and Youghal. Dr Keith Calkins, President of the International Racquetball Federation was guest of honour at the Junior Open and praised the outstanding work of the organisers in hosting the tournament.
Elma & Jimmy on the Injury list

A speedy and complete recovery is wished to Jimmy Gannon(Arklow)and Elma Gibney(Moylagh) who suffered serious injuries in the last three weeks. Both have similar injuries which required surgery and we hope to see them both back on the courts before too long.
