Finals day at European Championsips

Today is finals at the 15th European Championships in Paris. Irish players are involved in a number of finals but the Mens Singles Final is between Catalonians Victor Monserratt and Carlos Oviedo. Yvonne Kortes(Ger) and Raquel Consegal(Cat) contest the Womens Final.

Irish Team set for European Championships

The Irish Racquetball is set to defend their European title at the European Championships which begin in Paris on Monday next 3rd August. The Mens team is captained by Adam Neary and composes of his clubmate from Arklow Joe Farrell along with Joe Dillon from Kingscourt and Sean Keane from Fermoy. Three athletes make up the Womens Team, Geraldine Byrne and Toni Neary from the Arklow club and Majella Haverty from the Castlebar Club. The Opening Ceremony will be held on Sunday 2nd August at 6.30pm and Team competitions begin the following day at 9am.

30th Anniversary Organisers say Thanks

The organizers of the Racquetball Association of Ireland 30th Anniversary Celebration wish to thank all those who attended and supported the event which was held in the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore on Saturday 30th May. Michael Barnes and John Comerford and their committee stated the occasion was well supported and showed a profit which was donated to the Association.

Neary Double at Kilkenny Open

In the Open Singles events at the Kilkenny Open, Arklow`s Adam Neary and his sister Toni were the wuinners. Adam defeated Noel O`Callaghan(Fermoy) by injury forfeit in the Mens Open Singles final while Toni followed up on her success at the Irish Open defeating Bernadette 0`Callaghan in the Womens Open Singles final. Other winners were Paddy Dodd(Arklow), Mens D Singles, Keith Gallogley(Youghal), Mens Novice Singles while Sean Keane & Johnny O Keaney(Fermoy) won the Mens Doubles
