Ektelon Named Official Ball of the ERF

The ERF (European Racquetball Federation) has signed an Official Ball Agreement with the global racquetball leader Ektelon. The deal was finalized and announced at the 15th bi-annual European Racquetball Championships, held August 3rd-9th, 2009 in Paris, France. Ektelon becomes the first racquetball company to finalize an official product agreement with the ERF. As part of the agreement with the ERF, the federation will use the Ektelon Classic Ball as their official ball for the ten top level ranking events including the Irish Open and for any newly developed “satellite events” on the ERF schedule for the coming year.

Jimmy Gannon Elected as Association President

Congratulations to Jimmy Gannon from the Arklow Club was elected as new President of the Racquetball Association of Ireland at the Annual General Meeting held on Saturday last in Mullingar. He will lead the Association for the coming year. Newcomers to the Committee are Frank Quinn (Leitrim) who is the new Development Officer and Eithne Skehan(Touraneena) who has taken up the newly created post of Womens Officer.

European Championships conclude

The 15th European Championships concluded on Saturday last 8th August with Catalonia now at the top of European Racquetball after winning both the Mens and Womens Team events as well as the Mens Singles and the Womens Singles. Best in the singles for Ireland was Majella Haverty who reached the semi finals. Success though in Mens Doubles where Adam Neary and Joe Farrell are the Champions and also in the Womens Doubles with Geraldine Byrne and Toni Neary taking the title. Further success for Ireland was achieved in the Junior and Senior events. Click on the link below for all the results.
