2009 European Championships set for Paris

The European Racquetball Federation (ERF) has granted the 15th ERF European Racquetball Championships 2009 to Paris, France. It will be the second time for Paris to host the European Championships. The host venue will be the City Form Forest Hill Club with it's wonderful 4 courts. Originally the event was granted to Barcelona/Spain, but court construction for a new host venue (with 4 new courts) will not be ready in time. Players from 10 countries will be expected to compete on 3rd - 8th of August for European gold medals in individual and team competition. In addition, senior and junior championships will also be held at the same time. More information will be forthcoming.

Weather foils final day at 14th Moylagh Open

After a successful opening day on Saturday, the 14th Moylagh Open had to be abandoned after heavy overnight snow prevented many of the players arriving at the venue on Sunday morning. The Mens Singles had progressed to the semi - finals stages with Noel O`Callaghan(Fermoy), Adam Neary (Arklow), Pat Hanley(Fermoy) and Liam Hughes(Fermoy) all in contention. In the Womens Singles, the final was to be between Majella Haverty(Castlebar) and Julie Skehan(Touraneena). The organisers, Moylagh Racquetball Club may set a new date for the remaining matches but this has still to be decided.
Provincial Junior Championships & Qualifiers

Provincial Junior Championships should be held in the coming weeks. The events at junior provincial championships are singles at Under 12, 14, 16 & 18 for boys and girls. Each province can send 4 players in each event for the All Ireland Championships in Kingscourt on the 7th & 8th March. Connacht have named Sunday 1st March to hold its Championships. The event will be held in Castlebar.
National Doubles & Overage Championships 2008

Successful Junior B Championships

A very successful National Junior B Championships was held in Arklow last weekend. Arklow the host club had three winners while Rossmore from Co Tipperary also had three winners. The other titles went Fermoy, Touraneena and Templederry
