The Mens Open Singles was won by Noel O`Callaghan (Fermoy) who defeated Joe Dillon from the host club in the final. Other singles winners were Mark Murphy(Kilkenny), Joe Devenney(Queens), Ronan Kinane(Templederry) and Stephen O`Loan(Queens). Jimmy Gannon and Pa O`Donnell from Arklow won the Open Doubles. There was no womens competition at the Kingscourt Open.

Succesful Club Doubles Tournament in Castlebar

Castlebar Racquetball Club held a successful club doubles tournament on Monday 2nd of January. Twenty two players making up a eleven teams were drawn with the advanced players partnering novice players or beginners. It was a great way to introduce new players to racquetball and doubles play in particular. The competition was run on the Olympic format so plenty of matches for everyone. In the end Kieran Conway & John Reilly(pictured) were the main winners.

The first tournament of the New Year will be the Kingscourt Open which will be held on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th January.
There will be a full program of events from Open to Novice Singles as well as overage and Doubles competitions.

The next competition on the calendar is the All Ireland Junior B Championships which will be held in Fethard, Co Tipperary on Saturday 10th December. There will be competitions for boys & girls in Under 10, 12, 14, 16, & 18 Singles.

Sucessful Fermoy Open sees Hanley & Hickey Victorious

There was a very good entry at the Fermoy Open last weekend which saw Patrick Hanley (Fermoy) win his second Open Singles title following his success at Ballinrobe two weeks ago. He defeated Noel O`Callaghan(Fermoy) who had to retire in the final with an injury. The Women's Singles was won by National Champion Aisling Hickey (pictured) from Rossmore. She had a 2 games to 1 win in the final over Susan Farrell(Arklow). The Men`s Open Doubles winners were Adam Neary(Arklow) and Mark Murphy(Kilkenny) while Farrell & Hickey combined to win the Women's Doubles. Other winners were Daire Gargan(Kingscourt) B/C Singles; Ian Cronin(Youghal) Novice/D Singles; Jimmy Gannon(Arklow) 40+ Singles and Eoin Tynan & Benny Morrissey(Fethard) who won the Men`s C/D/Novice Doubles
